JD 520

We have been restoring on a JD 520 for the month of June. I have built the engine, rebuilt the transmission shifter mechanism, rebuilt the carburetor, installed new tires, new battery box, new seat , new lights, new steering wheel, new radiator, new water pump, rebuilt the generator, new gauges, and various other parts.
Dale and I did the body work on the hood and grille, replaced the grille screens, and painted the tractor.
It cranked right up and ran nicely, the electrical was a little tricky to get working but everything works good now. We only burnt up one wire when the original switch shorted out. Pictures are on our Facebook page  Southeast Tractor Parts. Take a look there are pictures showing the whole process.

Some time later, June 5 of 2015!

I read an article out of the Wall Street Journal on consumer spending. He was (tongue in cheek) asking why were Americans not doing their part to stimulate the economy.  I think everyone knows why. People have less spending money today than they did several years ago. Health costs are higher, Taxes are higher, the cost of living is higher, everything is higher except our paycheck!

A Year Later

Our email provider changed from one setup to Google and it has taken 4 hours to figure out how to log in to the blog. I had to change over to a different email. The old one still works and is the best email to send me a message. It has been a different kind of year. At first lots of rain and farmers could not get in the field to plant their crops and then it turned dry and some of the crops burnt up due to a lack of water. Some of out fresh salvage is a JD 4430 and a New Holland 3930 and we have torn down 2 cubs and a IH 140, 2 JD 1020 diesels and yes I have the injection pumps rebuilt and ready for sale off of the JD 1020's. Also tore down a JD 3020, JD 1050,JD 850 Ford 8N and others. If you need parts call me

Delivery Problem

I drop shipped a package to my customers customer in Tennessee last week and the package came back to me with a label that said "Service Interruption!"  We had never heard of a service interruption unless it was a hurricane or tornado or severe snow and ice. None of these were recent events. We called  the shipper and asked "what was the problem!"  It seems the customer threatened the delivery person on a previous shipment and now he is on permanent " Do not deliver to, Ever". I mean Come on How bad do you have to be so the major package shipper in the world  will not deliver to you!!!

Eric Benton, Southeast Tractor Parts, Ya'll be good so I can ship to you!!

Radiators

This week seems to be radiator week. Every 2nd or 3rd call is about a radiator. One customer had read my blog and bought his old radiator with him to match up to the one we had in stock. This always helps!.  Greg thanks for the business. I met another long time customer on Tuesday. I have been selling him parts since December 2000 and had never met him. Steve, I hope all the parts you ordered have got to you by now. Thanks for the business for the last 12 years. He ordered a radiator too!
It is always nice to be able to put a face with a name.

JD 9.0 liter engine parts

I got a notice today from the company that I buy engine kits and parts from that they are now supplying parts for the JD 9.0 liter Power Tech engines. This is in addition to all of the other parts that they carry for engines in tractors, combines and other Agricultural related engines. Larry I even have parts for your engine. It might be a squeeze to get the 9.0 liter stuff in the AC WD45. We will shoe horn it in somehow!!
