Everyone today wants to buy on the Internet and we also are able to sell you parts online 24/7 .
I had a customer in here last Friday that had bought a BD 154 cylinder head from me and he went online to purchase an engine kit for the same tractor. I could have sold him a kit with an oil pump for around $500 to $550 and he found it cheaper online. However, the company he was buying it from was in England and the parts were priced in English Pounds not US dollars! Well the engine oil pump is wrong and will not fit his tractor and the freight to send it back is more than the part. His credit card bill was for a little over $800.00 due to converting from English Pounds to US dollars. So an extra 300 dollars and still does not have all the parts to fix his engine and it will cost him about another$145.00 to finish the job.
Just saying, Know who you are buying your parts from!!!

The reason I have no hair!!

I ordered a pto sleeve to adapt a 1-1/8 in diameter PTO shaft to a 1-3/8 in yoke on a cutter. The customer gave me the measurement of the shaft and the measurement of the yoke and I ordered the right part to make it work. Today, he comes in and he tells me the exact opposite of the first description. The shaft is 1-3/8 in diameter and the yoke is 1-1/8 in . Now it is a $35.00 part instead of an $8.00 part. And I have freight on the wrong part and freight to send it back or my money is tied up in stocking it. This is the reason I ask questions to be sure I get the right part because it costs to much to correct errors. 15 years ago it would cost $8-$10 to get a part in and send it back. Today, It cost $9.50 to get it here and it will cost the same amount to send it back. As a Customer you should know what you want and when I ask a question know the answer DO NOT GUESS the answer. If you do not understand what I am asking. Ask me to explain it. I will be glad to take the time bcause I want you to get the right part the first time!!!!

Finishing Up!

I finished installing the other rear tire on Linda's tractor last night and I also got all the bolts tightened properly. I could not get the alternator to kick in and charge so I decided to drive it around and let the engine run and warm up. After about 30 minutes of driving the alternator went to working like it is supposed to.

I just finished rebuilding a Farmall M carb for a customer. It had set up for a while and the gas was starting to change and it left a coating on the inside of the carb that had to be scraped out. The fuel passage behind the main jet was clogged with trash and bad fuel. I cleaned the passages and replaced a bad float and now it should run a little better. Good thing I had all of this in stock!!

Thursday Night!!

I am setting here listening to WSOC on the computer while I have catalogs copying in the CD Duplicator. It will copy about 75 discs per hour. I have another 88 discs to go before I finish tonight. I will have about 700 to take to the National Farm Machinery show.
One of the vendors is making a nice JD AR26625 steering wheel for a 3020 and 4020 and other tractors. They also have the black steering wheel cap and a white cap for the 1010 and 2010. The caps are about $36.00 up till now the only new cap I could find was about $65.00. This is a nice OEM quality cap and steering wheel.
I ordered a new Carburetor kit today for the zenith carb used on a lot of different tractors. It has all 3 gaskets in it to fit 3 different carbs. People call us wanting a zenith carb kit and they don't know which one it is and now I can send this one and one of the gaskets will work. It will make my life easier. And it will be priced about the same as a regular kit.
Did any of you see in the paper that Mexico had the worst freeze that they have had in 50 years!! Must be more of the global warming!!

New Repair Kits for Remote Valves

I got a visit from one of my suppliers a few days ago and I now have in stock repair kits for the hydraulic selective control valves on JD tractors from the late model 3020 & 4020 up through the 40 series tractors. It also fits the utility tractors like the 2030 2440 2640 1020 820 and others.
I also have the same kit that fits the 50 series tractors that have the ISO style couplers. These will be alot lower priced than Deere.
These kits have the 4 valves and both of the oring kits in them to rebuild the Selective Control Valve Assembly that bolts on the back of the tractor. This is the valve that the remote hydraulic cylinder lines plugs into.

I am building a JD 4320 engine in my spare time( lol) I could not work on it tonight because of the end of month paperwork that has to be done to get statements out to our customers.
Still got a little work to do on them.

JD 9500 Combine Radiator

I left after work last night and drove 100 miles one way to deliver a JD 9500 Combine radiator to one of my customers. I got 2 birds with one trip, on the way I stopped by one of my customers in Timmonsville SC and picked up a clutch core and continued on to Kingstree to deliver the radiator. My buddy introduced me to a couple of local farmers while we were standing around talking at the local watering hole. I got home at 11:45 pm. Sometimes I will deliver but I do not make a habit of it. It was a good trip!!

One of the orders I had today had 247 parts that I pulled and shipped to one customer. It was a busy day! They were not very big parts but they were a lot of them. The order shipped today by UPS and should be delivered on Monday.

Parts Questions

I had a customer call and ask "Do you have Farmall mufflers" and I said "yes". Then he asks" How much are they??" . I say(biting my tongue) "What tractor do you want one for?"
I stock a variety of mufflers for Farmall tractors and the prices range from $20.00 to roughly $165.00. It depends on the model and engine size.
If you tell me what you are working on then it is easier to give you the right price and I can tell you if I have it in stock. This guy need one for a Super A and I had it on the shelf for $32.00 .

Manifolds

This is a manifold off of a IH 1086 tractor. I have it sold to a customer and I am trying to get the turbo off of the manifold. I have taken out all of the bolts except one and it will not loosen any more. This requires more than a hand full of tools and a hammer, this requires a red wrench. I have to take it to the torch to cut the bolt so the turbo will separate from the manifold.

We sell lots of different manifolds new and used for tractors. Call me if your tractor starts smoking from under the hood instead of on top of the hood!!

I had 2 customers in today ( well actually several more than that) that told me the OEM dealer price of the parts they were looking for from me. One was looking for a fuel filter head. This is the part the filter fastens to and it bolts on the engine. I sold him one for $10.00 and I made money on it. The price at the dealer was $111.00 The other customer was looking for a clutch kit for a IH 140 tractor. I stock this clutch kit and sell 25 to 30 of them a year. My retail price today is $268.00 . He had just left the dealer and their price was $779.00 . Both of these were people I have known for years and sold parts to for years so I don't think they were pulling my leg.

Tractor Parts

These are parts I have ordered in for customers over the last couple of days. The JD top link end (the gray part in the pictures) is a RE56211 it fits a JD 4440,4250,4450,4255,4455. Not a lot of tractors this size, use this part on the top link . Most of them have a joint like the one that hooks to the tractor and have a quick coupler on the tractor. This top link end is mostly used without a quick coupler. The handle in the picture with the top link is part number R42495 and is used on tractor from 2510's to 4440's. This is the handle that clips to the center body of the top link. It flips out so you can adjust the tilt/level of your implement. They are prone to breaking.
The IH emblem fits a Super A, Super C and a C. The Battery box cover fits a Super A, Super C,C,100,130,140,200 and a 230.The Throttle assembly fits a Super A, Super C, and a C.

IH STARTER SWITCH

I have been working on finding a source for a better starter switch for the IH M's and H's. The source I have had for several years does not have the best quality switch and I have warrantied out most of the switches I have sold. This new switch is made here in the USA by the original manufacturer that made them for IH & Oliver. The problem with the the one I have had is the cap on the switch would pivot when you mashed it down the start the tractor. Sometimes it would jam and not start the tractor. Sometimes it would stick it the start position and continue to start/crank the tractor while it was running.

The new switch has a heavier spring and the cap does not pivot so it should not stick. I do not have the exact price at the moment, but they will probably be in the $11 to $13 range. My part number is 1996487 and it is the same as 356913R91, 64931H, 131332C1, 131202C1, 04981AB and 107497C1.

IH STRAWWALKER

As some of you know, Linda and I have been rearranging the parts display area in front of the sales counter. I have a new IH 177204c91 Strawwalker that fits a late model IH 815 and 915 combines. I would sell this strawwalker for $150.00 . If you want it shipped to you it would have to be shipped by truck and the cost would be $150.00 plus whatever the truck freight company charges to get it to you. However, we get some good prices on truck freight so it might not cost as much as you think!
I also have strawwalkers for other combines.

Tractor Radiators

Today, the tractor, combine, skidsteer radiators are on the website. Look under each make of tractors and click on radiators. They are in a pdf file. You can press the CTRL key and the F key at the same time and it will bring up a window where you can type in the model of your tractor and it will search the file for your tractor. If your model tractor only has one radiator then there will be only one listing under your model. If your model could have had 3 or 4 different radiators then it can show more than one radiator selection. Sometimes there were different radiators that came in 1 model but there may only be one that is available today. It may or may not fit your tractor. Look it up and call me or email me and we will be sure it is right.

Knowing your Tractor

Several times this past week I have had people order parts for their tractor. This is not unusual it happens every day. The phones ring and people need parts. Most people, well 95 percent know what they need. The other 5 percent will order a clutch plate for a MF 135 and when it gets here he has a MF TO35. They have different clutch plates that will not interchange. Or order a wiring harness for a Ford 4600, but when it arrives and will not work--- "well my buddy says it is the same as a 4600", but really it is industrial Ford not a 4600. Or he orders a muffler for an Allis B, but I know he is working on an Allis CA and I ask is it a B or a CA? He says they are the same thing. If they were the same both would be only a"B" or a "CA". They would not be the same tractor with 2 different names made in different years. Most of the time when we get the wrong part the customer has told us the wrong tractor. Or they answer our questions wrong. I have asked customers if they have 28 inch or 38 inch rear tires to determine whether their tractor is a utility style or a rowcrop style. The parts are different. The customers answer was 28 inch. When his parts got there they would not fit, so I ask again and the answer was 38 inch this time. There are other questions that are more difficult that we have to ask to determine what you have or what you need. I quess what I am trying to say is "If you don't understand what I am asking then you should say""I don't understand what you are asking" . I will be glad to tell you what you have to look at to determine the answer. This way you get the right part the first time!!! I do not expect you to know all the answers and I will help you be able to get the answers so I can take care of you.
This is about the right part the first time. It keeps my expense's down which keeps your cost down.

A Truck Load of Tractor Parts

A tractor trailer load of tractor parts left Ohio heading for us today. It should be here some time tomorrow morning. So for now I will put the rebuilding of the JD 3010 engine on hold until I get the tractor parts on the shelf. I am cleaning up the area in our building where I can set pallets of parts. I normally get 18 to 24 pallets at one time and I have to put them in the building to keep them from getting wet if it rains. I will try to post a picture or two of the truck load of parts so you will have some idea of how much room they take up in pallet space.
I had a customer in today looking for Farmall A parts and this was his first tractor. It was kind of interesting figuring out what he needed to fix his tractor. It took a little bit to get our terminology on the same page. I have seen a lot of people who have bought their first tractor this year to put in a garden so it is a little more than selling parts sometimes it is telling them what has to be fixed and how to fix their problem. Sometimes I get a mess of corn or something out of their garden for my trouble.
